I have no explanation as to why it has taken me so long to do this project. I think it may have to do with the way all of the parts interact. The ends MUST be parallel to each other and square to the top/bottom.
But, I finally have it to where I can do a final sanding and apply the finish.

The top and rail under the top is permanently attached to the sides.

The false back is a couple of pieces of maple, 1/4" thick and set into grooves in the ends. No glue.

You can see the false back from the front. It's main function is to keep something from sliding into the tambour and blocking it.
The bottom is currently attached to the sides with 2 screws. The bottom will need to be removable should there be an issue with the tambour in the future.
